If you want to stay on the beach in Hollywood but are in the mood
for more of an upscale setting, Sugar Reef Tropical Grill is an
oasis of class sandwiched between ice cream shops and T-shirt
stores. It's just down the strip from O'Malley's at 600 N. Surf
Rd. and is a perfect setting for a first date, second date or
any date years after you've stopped counting.
You're welcomed to dress as if it's laundry day, but the ambience
suggests otherwise. The tables are covered with royal blue linens
and topped with candleholders that could double as artwork. The
walls are covered in a brightly colored mosaic of tiles and the
servers are donned in pressed black pants and starched white shirts.
Grab a table or sit at the bar and order an espresso or glass
of wine (50 to choose from). The surf and swaying palms go perfectly
with the Cuban jazz, classical or Buddha Bar lounge music you'll
often hear at Sugar Reef.
